All team members must fit the competitive category of the event entered. Any team using a player who is not on the roster, or who is not eligible to play in the division entered, is subject to disqualification and possible forfeiture of game(s). Rosters will be randomly checked.

To help determine round robin seedings, all teams must select a rating of Above Average, Average, or Below Average (as it relates to the division entered) during online registration. If registering via a paper form, please list a rating in the Additional Details section of the entry form.

The Sport Directors have the right to combine divisions if they feel it’s necessary.

All teams are guaranteed at least three games.

Players may enter on only one team.

All teams are required to supply an adult scorekeeper or timer to work at the scorer’s table for all games in which the team participates, failure to do so will result in forfeiture of game.

NCAA rules will apply in all divisions except High School (Federation rules).

Special Cornhusker State Games rules will supersede NCAA rules. Rules will be posted with schedule information.

Matching numbered shirts (front or back) is required. Players must meet the uniform requirement.

The teams must provide game balls. Officials will decide which to use. Teams are responsible for securing ball after game.

Five-minute halftime and 5 minute pre-game warm-up.

Game time is forfeit time (no grace period). 3 full time-outs per game, 1 30-second.

TIMING: 20 minute running clock except for last two minutes of each half, (where clock will stop on all whistles) unless one team is ahead by more than 15 points. If lead falls below 15 points, clock will again stop. In addition, clock will stop on all technical fouls, injuries or timeouts. Clock does not restart until it would in a normal dead ball situation.

Roster Info

Teams can make roster updates.

The deadline to make roster updates is 5 p.m. on TUESDAY, JULY 17. Rosters are considered FINAL after that date.

Roster additions after July 6 will include the per-player entry fee, plus a $10 late fee PER PLAYER.

Teams that register online are able to login and make roster substitutions free of charge. Teams that register via the paper entry form will be charged a $10 processing fee to substitute players. Teams are strongly encouraged to register online to eliminate any roster change fees.

MINIMUM ROSTER SIZE: Five players. If registering online, the minimum roster size must be entered to advance to check-out.

NOTE: Rosters WILL be checked during tournament. Please make sure your roster is current prior to the July 17 deadline.

TEAM WAIVER: The team waiver form must be signed by each team member, or by parent/guardian if the participant is 18 years or younger. If the team is registered online, and the online waiver for each player is clicked as ‘Accepted’, no printed/signed waiver is needed. All team waivers must be clicked as ‘Accepted’ or submitted to the Cornhusker State Games office by TUESDAY, JULY 17 to be eligible for competition. Printable waiver forms and further instructions here.

ENTRY FEE INCLUDES: Competition in the 2018 Cornhusker State Games; White cotton athlete shirt (micro-fiber or soft cotton lightweight tri-blend upgrade available); Pass for free admission to SportFest, the Opening Ceremonies, and all competition venues; Sponsor gifts and coupons.

TEAM ONLINE REGISTRATION NOTE: When registering your team online, please note that the system will ask you to enter your team name and roster prior to selecting your sport and division. In the INDIVIDUAL Shipping dropdown menu, be sure to select “TEAM” for each team member. If you wish to have your team packet shipped, you will select that in the TEAM Shipping dropdown menu.

PAPER ENTRY FORMS: Paper entry forms will be accepted with a $10 processing fee per team. Registering online saves time, money and trees. If registering via the paper entry form, please rate your team as being Above Average, Average or Below Average. List this information in the Additional Details/Special Instructions section of the entry form.

SCHEDULING NOTE: It is Nebraska Sports Council policy to not release team or divisional information until after the entry deadline. With teams waiting until on or near the deadline to enter, releasing data prior to that day does not provide an accurate picture of the tournament field and serves only to discourage those taking a wait-and-see approach.

All teams are encouraged to take advantage of the early entry discount and enter prior to that deadline, which in turn generates additional interest as teams attract one another. In the rare event that a division does not supply enough teams to warrant a viable tournament, teams will be given the option to move to another division, or be issued a refund. We appreciate the understanding of coaches and parents on this matter and would encourage teams to enter early and trust that there will be adequate competition in all divisions.
