NEW FORMAT
The 2013 Cornhusker State Games Torch Run will be held in conjunction with the 2013 LiveWellNebraska.com Community Tour with sport camps and appearances by Nebraska native U.S. Olympians Jordan Larson and Curtis Tomasevicz in five Nebraska communities, including Scottsbluff, North Platte, Kearney, Grand Island and Lincoln.
The Torch arrival in each of the communities will serve as a highlight of community tour-stops which feature health screenings, wellness award presentations, National Guard attractions, vendor giveaways and inflatable games for kids. Local media will carry additional details about each tour-stop.
The Torch Run is sponsored by the Nebraska Army National Guard and Nebraska Air National Guard. The LiveWellNebraska.com Tour is sponsored by LiveWellNebraska.com, BlueCross BlueShield of Nebraska and the Omaha World-Herald.
RUN & HAVE FUN
The Cornhusker State Games is one of the largest amateur sports festivals in the nation. On July 19–28, thousands of Nebraskans of all ages and abilities will compete in more than 60 sports, showcasing their talents and encouraging others to adopt healthy, active lifestyles.
The spirit of the Games will be spread statewide by the Torch Run, thanks to the efforts of hundreds of runners and volunteers. Patterned after the Olympic Torch Run, the relay focuses the attention of the public on the Cornhusker State Games as it crosses the state.
RULES
Runners must run at least one mile and may choose the general location during registration. Schedulers will use runners’ addresses to make assignments as convenient as possible, unless otherwise directed. Miles will be scheduled according to Nebraska Department of Roads mile marker numbers, on a first-come, first-served basis.

CONTRIBUTORS:
"The Torch Run exemplifies many things about Nebraskans: Our work ethic, our individual will to succeed and our desire for self-improvement and physical fitness. You may choose to run for vigorous exercise or a casual jog. But best of all, you can choose to run a mile just for the memories."
