National Anthem Contest

 


The Nebraska Sports Council is conducting a state-wide competition to determine the singer of the Star Spangled Banner at the Opening Ceremonies, which will be held at Seacrest Field in Lincoln on Friday, July 21.

Contestants must upload their audition video to YouTube and include a link in an email to anna@nebraskasportscouncil.com. There is no cost to enter, but the deadline to submit an audition video is Sunday, April 9, 2017.

A judging panel will determine five finalists, followed by online voting by the public . The submission with the most "Likes" will be the contest winner.

Only amateur performers who are Nebraska residents are allowed to enter the contest.  Any singer that is paid on a regular basis to perform is not eligible.

Solo acts only.  Groups and duets are not eligible.

The winner earns the opportunity to perform the National Anthem at the 2017 CSG Opening Ceremonies at Seacrest Field in Lincoln on Friday, July 21. The winner will also be recognized in the 2017 Nebraska Sports Council Souvenir Yearbook and on this page. Free travel and lodging will be provided the night of the Opening Ceremonies for the winner and a guest, if they live more than 50 miles from Lincoln.

Major Minor 3 Earns Right to Perform National Anthem 


McCook Trio Wins Statewide Contest

Cornhusker State Games (CSG) officials have announced Major Minor 3 as the CSG 2016 National Anthem Contest winner.  The group will perform the Star Spangled Banner at the CSG Opening Ceremonies on Friday, July 15 at Lincoln’s Seacrest Field.

Major Minor 3 is a vocal trio from McCook, Nebraska. Members include Shelby Stevens, 16; Riley Rambali, 17; and Tyler Rambali, 20.  The group earned more than 900 Facebook likes for their YouTube audition video. 

Other finalists in the statewide search, which was sponsored by Amigos/Kings Classic, included runner-up CVC Men’s Chorus,  Ex Amino Quartet, the Nebraska Men’s Christian Chorus and the Accidentals. The top five videos were chosen for the public-voting phase on the CSG Facebook page.
