Final Weekend Features 25 Sports

CSG Walk, Volleyball, Triathlon and 5K Road Race Among Largest Remaining Events

LINCOLN, Neb. (July 27, 2017) — The final weekend of the 33rd annual Cornhusker State Games features competition in 24 sports, starting with Bass Fishing, BMX Racing, Electronic Darts and Tennis on Friday, July 28.
 
Saturday, 16 sports will be in action including Archery (3D), Basketball (3 on 3), CrossFit, Cycling (Gravel Grinder), Electronic Darts, Fencing (HEMA), Flag Football, Foosball, Karate, Pocket Billiards, 5K Road Race, Shooting (adult trap, high-power rifle), Skydiving, Tennis, Volleyball (adult indoor, youth outdoor) and CSG Walk.
 
Events conclude Sunday with 12 sports: Archery (3D), Crossfit, Electronic Darts, Fencing, Flag Football, Pocket Billiards, Shooting (high-power rifle), Tennis, Volleyball and WalkOmaha.
 
Items of note for this weekend
--A record number of bass anglers, 98, will fish from boats as two-person teams Friday at Lake Wanahoo near Wahoo from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
--3D Archery, where archers aim at synthetic animal-like targets along a course through the woods, takes place Saturday and Sunday at Lincoln Archery Range at 44th & Superior Streets.
--The Cornhusker State Games Dirt Rouluer Award will be presented after Saturday’s Gravel Grinder to the cyclist with the lowest combined time for the Grinder and CSG Mountain Bike Race.  The Awards presentation takes place at Zipline Beer Hall near 56th & Pine Lake Rd.
--Three of this weekend’s largest events, the 5K Road Race, with 243 runners, the CSG Walk, with 290 walkers, and the Triathlon, at 263, all happen at Holmes Lake Park.  The Walk and 5K take place Saturday morning and the Triathlon begins Sunday at 7:30 a.m.
               
Entry remains open in several events, and officials said more than 10,000 are currently registered or have already competed. More than 40 sports took place last weekend.

February 27, 2017 - The Nebraska Sports Council has announced the 2017 Cornhusker State Games (CSG) Torch Run route/schedule and is encouraging Nebraska runners of all ages to sign up for a mile.  Officials have also opened the search for a national anthem performer for the Games’ Opening Ceremonies.
